Stanley Plum

from $99.99

I have yet to eat a homegrown Stanley, but they are reportedly delicious. Some have even mentioned that they make great wine. While some sources say Stanley is a Zone 5 tree, our experience suggests it’s likely more suited for Zone 4. It has survived some wicked early fall frosts at our nursery (with temperatures as low as -10°F on 10/26/20), indicating that it can handle colder conditions. Other sources suggest it can survive down to -30°F in the winter, which aligns it with Zone 4. For now, I’d classify it as Zone 5, especially in protected Zone 4 sites.

Ideal Growing Conditions

Stanley does best in protected areas, meaning away from frost pockets and strong winds. It thrives in environments with structures or pavement nearby for added warmth and protection.

Pollination Needs

Plant Stanley with Italian, Native American, or President for pollination.
