Mount Royal plum has been a reliable european plum for northern growers. It is upright to spreading, open center tree with moderate vigor. The light blue plums are juicy, semi-freestone and have sweet flesh. They are excellent for fresh eating, O.K. for drying, and become ripe late August/Early September.  It has survived -44F in W central MN and -42F in Columbus, MT.

Our Mount Royal plums are grafted onto Krymsk86, which is hardy to -45F.
