PF-24C Cold Hardy Peach
PF-24C Cold Hardy Peach
Another peach that is somewhat hardy but nowhere near what many places online say. PF -24C’s limbs naturally grows at wide angles creating a wide-spreading tree. A highly colored red fruit that remains firm on (and off the tree), for an extended period of time, PF-24C. With a nice skin color of 90% red over greenish-yellow, PF 24-C Cold Hardy harvests has a very good acidic-sweet flavor. Also great for keeping and shipping, PF-24C also has good resistance to bacterial leaf spot. Self-fertile but should be paired with Reliance or Blushingstar (if you’re colder) or any of our other peaches for a larger crop. PF-24C is arguably one of the most cold hardy peaches. We think the order of most cold hardy peaches according to what I’ve seen in peach do first hand and our customers in the Montana climate are as follows: 1) Selected Siberian Peach varieties 2) Contender 3) Veteran and then perhaps even the star series (Risingstar, etc.) We are done listing Reliance as one of the hardier peaches because truth be told, it is not. PF-24C is still a solid zone 4b peach with exceptional taste quality. PF-24C is self-fertile, but as with all peaches (and nectarines) it’s best when planted with a partner. Any of our others would work fine for pollination. Freestone. Hardy to zone 4a as they survived -28F in Cowley, WY in Jan. of 2024 without any signs of winter injury.
Trees are 5-6 ft. tall and grafted onto Lovell semi-dwarf rootstock.
