These Hybrid Hazelnuts have American Hazelnut for its hardiness and European Hazelnut for its size. These are two year old hazelnuts that we grew from seed that we got from Buzz Ferver of Perfect Circle Farms. According to Buzz, “The parents of these seed come from Dale Steig, Fred Ashworth, Badgersett Research Station and Riverbend Hazels. All these folks have been selecting for productivity for over 30 years. These seed come from shrubs planted here 6- 7 years ago, they have been collected from the best 10 plants out of hundreds we have growing here. Mostly selected for size, a couple are medium sized but make so many nuts year after year.” Hardy to zone 2.
