This and Hardired we have found to be the most cold hardy of the nectarines. Apparently Independence is the most widely planted nectarine in the US, perhaps in part because it can do well from places like protected areas in cold Montana to warmer places like California. Hardy to zone 5, if planted in zone 4, must be in a very protected spot and out of any frost pockets or wind exposed areas.

These nectarine trees are 5-7 ft. tall and are grafted onto Lovell semi-dwarf rootstock.
