Native to the eastern and midwestern parts of the U.S., Bur Oak acorns are the largest of any North American oak. The acorns, when boiled to remove the tannins, can be pressed and eaten raw, turned into a flour after being dehydrated, and can be made into acorn “cake patties”, among other uses. Stunning tree.
