Native American plum produces fragrant, white flowers in showy, flat-topped clusters occurring before the leaves in spring. The fruit that follows ripens to a shiny, bright red in August or September. Great dried, fresh (if left to ripen longer on the tree) or in preserves. Will pollenize each other. Makes for a great wind break or a pollinator attractant. Tied with Linden for the best floral, perfumy blossom smell when in bloom. Help support native pollinators! Hardy to zone 2.
