Black Velvet is a hybrid of gooseberry and Worcesterberry, described as having medium, dark red, sweet, high quality fruit with a superb, almost blueberry-like flavor. This is our first year growing it so stick with others if you are colder than zone 4 as we do not have any personal cold hardiness data yet for Montana. But we suspect at least zone 4 given 1/2 of its gooseberry parentage.

These Black Velvet Gooseberries are 1-2 ft. and have super fine root hairs.
