Concord Grape (Bundle of 2)
Concord Grape (Bundle of 2)
Concord is a robust and aromatic blue-black grape whose ancestors were wild native species found growing in the rugged New England soil in the mid 1800’s. It has since gone on to become one of the most popular grapes grown in the US. The fruit makes full-bodied juice or your own house wine. You can also make nice jams and jellies. They have a nice flavor but they’re very acidic on the tongue fresh. And they do have seeds. Better for processing than fresh eating is our opinion. If you’re in zone 3, stick with Valiant, Somerset, or Bluebell. Somerset is the best for fresh eating. Valiant the hardiest. Concord is hardy to -30F. Likely no more than that. These are just barely on the edge of survival in Missoula but if one were to plant these even in a part of town where the wind can run and/or the frost can settle even a little more (orchard homes in Missoula or Frenchtown) and these things won’t survive.
These vines have nice and established root systems. Going on their second year.
