Although it says so in the name, Chicago Hardy is not that hardy of a fig. Perhaps it doesn’t need to be protected or brought inside during the winter in some zone 6/7 parts of the country, this is simply not the case in Montana. But they are fun to grow and then stored in the basement for 1/2 a year come September in Montana. It’s a medium-large sized fig (the size of a golf ball), with sweet, rich, thick strawberry pink pulp and very thin edible skin. Not that winter hardy in Montana. Zone 6 or 7.
