A medium to large multi-stemmed, open, spreading shrub reaching 6-10 ft. tall, American Elderberry produces large, white flower clusters followed by purple-black fruits in late summer. The berries are known for their immune boosting properties and are best for this purpose as syrups and tinctures. Also makes for excellent jam. Hardy to zone 2 (-40F or more).
