Wowza! (known as Big Red) is another University of Saskatchewan introduction. Hardy to -50F or more, the size of the cherries is larger than the others. They are, however, slightly less productive. Bob Bors, the breeder of these, has wonders whether less productive varieties are more hardy because he never noticed winter kill on these. According to Bors, “I recall Wowza! had unusually large, red cherries that were 50% longer than wide with small lobes on the bottom. It looked like a miniature red delicious apple. I’d never seen any cherry that looked like that.”

These are sold in bundles of 2 in two different sizes: 10”-14” and 1-2 ft. These are on their own roots and should get about 7-8 ft. at maturity. They’re dwarfs!
