Manchurian Apricot (Bundle of 2)
Manchurian Apricot (Bundle of 2)
These Manchurian apricots, whose genetics hail from Northeast Asia, are some of the coldest apricots one can grow. The one caveat is that the flavor on these are variable. The mother trees vary in terms of the quality of the apricots. Sometimes they are sour, sometimes sweeter, especially if left on the tree for longer. But the mother trees come from a cold area in North Dakota and can survive -45F or even potentially -50F. Zone 2 apricots!
You can also plant these out as rootstock and graft things like Westcot, Brookcot, or others onto them. Bud graft onto them in early August.
These come in bundles of 2 and are 2-3 ft. tall. Although apricots are partially self-fertile, one tends to get more fruit set when there is some cultivar pollen diversity. Since these are unique seedlings, this will be enough in terms of pollen diversity (for adequate cross pollination), as one will appropriately serve as a pollenizer for the other and vice versa.
