Although Goldcot is one of the hardiest apricots derived from a European genetic line, it is not suitable for most of Montana. It cannot tolerate temperatures below -30°F and is best planted in:

  • The warmer parts of Missoula

  • Areas around Flathead Lake

  • Other protected microclimates west of the Continental Divide

Flavor & Fruit Characteristics

Goldcot produces a beautiful golden-yellow freestone fruit with a rich, deep, sweet-tangy flavor. It's excellent for:

  • Fresh eating

  • Canning

  • Or simply enjoying straight off the tree

Growing Details

  • Self-fertile – can be planted alone, making it ideal for small spaces

  • Cold hardiness: Down to -30°F (Zone 4)

  • Tree size: Grafted onto Lovell rootstock, trees are approximately 5–7 feet tall
