Zard Seedling (Bundle of 2): Ships Fall 2024

$99.99

Zard is a very late blooming, yellow apricot (it’s name means “yellow” in Farsi) with a sweet and subtle sub-acid flavor. The apricot kernels are edible and taste quite like almond as they are sweet and have zero bitterness. If you are in an area that sees temperatures below -35 F (Missoula does not), then this should certainly be on your list of trees to grow (if you can obtain Zard Spring 2025 from us). Hardy to zone 3b, Zard has withstood -33F in SW Minnesota and had borne a full crop (although it may be even hardier).

Note On Zard Seedlings’ Genetics: These seedlings will have either 1/2 of Zard’s genetics (if not all of its genetics as apricots range from partially to fully self-fertile). If there was genetic crossing with another variety, then it would likely have been with one of the apricots from the Manchurian line (Zard is Iranian), which are even hardier than Zard. However, we don’t know this definitively and as such, are considering this hard to at least -33F. Zone 3.

Seedlings ship in the Fall and the price includes shipping. These two seedlings are 3+ feet tall and will cross with each other.
