While Red Splendor isn’t grown for its fruit quality, it’s a standout in the orchard for its early reddish-pink foliage, making it an excellent pollenizer for your other apple varieties.

Fruit Quality

• Not suitable for fresh eating—the fruit quality is notably poor, even worse than Dabinette cider apples when eaten fresh.

• Experimental use: If you're into cider-making, Red Splendor could be experimented with, though it’s not known for great cider quality either.

Pollenizer

• Ideal for pollenizing early-blooming apples like Pristine.

• Flowering habit: Tends to flower biennially (every other year), so don’t rely on it as your sole pollenizer—plant at least one other variety that blooms annually.

• Hardy to Zone 2, making it a great choice for areas with extremely cold winters.
