Red Splendor Crabapple (Bundle of 2)
Red Splendor Crabapple (Bundle of 2)
While Red Splendor isn’t grown for its fruit quality, it’s a standout in the orchard for its early reddish-pink foliage, making it an excellent pollenizer for your other apple varieties.
Fruit Quality
Not suitable for fresh eating—the fruit quality is notably poor, even worse than Dabinette cider apples when eaten fresh.
Experimental use: If you're into cider-making, Red Splendor could be experimented with, though it’s not known for great cider quality either.
Pollenizer
Ideal for pollenizing early-blooming apples like Pristine.
Flowering habit: Tends to flower biennially (every other year), so don’t rely on it as your sole pollenizer—plant at least one other variety that blooms annually.
Climate & Hardiness
Hardy to Zone 2, making it a great choice for areas with extremely cold winters.
