Parkland is a cross between Rescue apple crab and Red Melba, a red sport of Melba which is a seedling of McIntosh. Parkland is technically speaking an apple apple crabapple (apple x apple crab (apple x crab)) but we’ll just call it an apple because it has 75% apple genetics and 25% crabapple genetics. Parkland is one of the earliest ripening apples and hardiest apples we sell, making it perfect not just for Montana, but Alaska and areas with extremely short growing seasons, and bitterly cold/long winters. It is fairly acidic but still decent fresh eating off the tree. Hardy to -60F or more, Parkland will survive in every part of Montana (even up Mariah’s pass!).

Our Parkland trees are small, 2-3 ft, and we grafted them onto the hardy, full size Russian Antonovka rootstock.
